EVENT UPDATES & WEATHER CONTINGENCY PLANS

The Island Charity Swim is highly dependent on weather conditions. The Event Committee, including the Event Director and a Surf Life Saving Queensland representative, reserves the right to postpone, cancel or move the location of the swim if adverse weather conditions are present or anticipated. All participants, including individuals and teams, must comply with this decision.

In the days leading up to the Island Charity Swim, the relevant authorities, including representatives from Surf Life Saving Queensland, will meet with the Event Director and committee to assess forecasted conditions. A decision regarding the event will be made and communicated to participants as soon as possible.

Options may include implementing a contingency plan, such as relocating the Island Charity Swim start from Mudjimba Beach to Mooloolaba Beach to complete the 10km swim in the more protected waters of Mooloolaba Bay. Other possibilities include postponing the event to a later date or cancelling it altogether, depending on the prevailing conditions and safety considerations.

If the Event Committee determines on the day of the event that it must be cancelled, an SMS notification will be sent to all participants.

Please note that in the event of postponement or cancellation, registration fees and fundraising contributions are non-refundable. All funds raised will still be donated to the Island Charity Swim's beneficiary organisations as originally intended.
